Overview

Got its name from its founder King of Bithynia brosias in 186 BC, then in the 2nd century BC it fell into the hands of the Romans and later was occupied by the Byzantines and flourished greatly in their reign until it fell to the Ottomans by Sultan Orhan Ghazi in the 14th century AD.

It is Located along of the Marmara Sea coast in the northwest of Anatolia, Turkey's fourth most populous city

It is the second city after the city of Sogut and the first capital of the Ottomans from 1326 AD until 1365 AD.It was called Khedawendakar which means the gift of God.

Sultan Orhan Ghazi ordered to transfer the body of Osman Ghazi,the  founder of the Ottoman Empire, from the city of Sogut to bursa In response to his request to burry him there.

It is also known as the great city (ulu Shahir), but now it became known as green Bursa for the abundance of forests and scenic nature on  uludag Mount and gardens and parks.

The city of Bursa is famous for its agriculture and the most important cultivars are, peaches , Chestnut and berries which helps in raising silkworm and silk industry. It is also famous for many industries such as textiles, food ,dairy products, and the automotive industry such as  (Renault ,Fiat and Ford).

Bursa is one of the richest cities in Turkey with historical landmarks because  it is land of many civilizations

Its library contains about 7,000 Ottoman, Persian and Arabic manuscripts.

The Green Mosque

Got this name because all its minarets and domes are covered with green marble.

It is also known as the Mosque of Sultan Muhammad I, which was established in 1419 by architect Awaz Pasha. , who used some Byzantine building materials in the construction process  .

Aznik Museum

established by Sultan Murad in 1388 in honor of his mother Khatoun as a charitable organization to distribute food to the poor every day and later was converted to a museum in 1960.

Ulu Mosque

also known as the Great Mosque, the largest mosque in the city of Bursa ordered the construction by Sultan Beyazid I 1396 AD.  It has twenty dome and two minarets only and contains 192 large stone engravings. Also there is the cover of the Kaaba, which was brought from Mecca.

Silk Market

An antique market ordered by Sultan Beyazid II in 1491 , and it has shops selling fabrics and silk.

The city is characterized by many natural areas that attract tourists from all over the world.

Uludag Mountain

 is the first destination for visitors to Bursa and is one of the best places to ski and enjoy the nature of the picturesque scenery and rise to 2543 meters.

 It was built in 1963 by a nine-kilometer-long cable car and was completely renovated in 2013 to be equipped with 174 closed vehicles carrying 1,500 people per hour on a wire designed in Italy and equipped with 45 support poles and the longest in the world.

Saitam Falls are located down the mountain and feature a stunning landscape.

Sansarak's hidden paradise is located in the Aznik region and represents one of God's gardens in the earth and rich in waterfalls flowing from the caves.

Cave of Faini  is a natural cave dating back thousands of years and is the second longest cave in Turkey and has more than sixty caves.

Madékion Monastery from the Byzantine Period of the 18th Century.

The Ulop Cave

The third largest cave in Turkey, was caused by an earthquake of 300 million years of 665 meters at 140 degrees (ladder), and the temperature inside it is between 14-18 ° C.

Botanic Garden: One of the biggest parks of 400 thousand square meters and includes several types of world parks such as English, French, Japanese, exotic garden, rose garden, large water basin.

It is home to about 8,000 trees from more than 150 different species. About 6,000 flowers, which are made up of 25 different kinds of roses and hundreds of shrubs, were collected from more than 70 different sources.

The great tree, a long-standing oak tree about 614 years old, has its very large branches. Below it are restaurants frequented by many to escape the sun and enjoy delicious meals under the tree.
