Cappadocia Sema Show

How about watching the sema show, the magnificent ritual of Mevleviism, founded under the leadership of Mevlana, one of the world-famous elements of Turkish cultural history, in the magical atmosphere of Cappadocia? You can feel the warmth of Mevlana's message of love that embraces all humanity in your heart.

The whirling dervish show is performed by master whirling dervishes and Mevlevi instruments under the leadership of the whirling dervish conductor. The whirling dervish show, which takes you on a mysterious journey into the past with its dances and costumes containing deep symbolic meanings, offers you an unforgettable and unique experience.

Sema Performances (Mevlevi rites) are performed by 1 whirling dervish conductor, 5 whirling dervishes and 5 musicians. The Sema show lasts 50 minutes and at the end of the show, a 10-minute slide show is presented explaining the formation of the Fairy Chimneys and Cappadocia.

In order to contribute to the clarity of the shows, participants are given a booklet in different languages at the entrance.

After the show, guests were served birth sherbet. Don't you want to experience this feeling too?

The Sema ceremony consists of 7 parts. Each part has a different meaning:

A- First Part: It begins with a "ma't" composed by Itrî praising the Prophet Muhammad, who represents divine love. This is called "Na't-ı Şerîf". Praising our Prophet means praising all the prophets before him and Allah, who created them.

B- Second Part: After this ode, the sound of kudüm is heard. This stroke represents the "Kün = Be" command of Allah (swt) when He created the universe. (Quran. Ker. P. 36/A:82)

C- Third Part: In the third part, the flute part is heard, representing the Divine "Breath" that gives life to everything.

D- Fourth Part: Sultan Veled period. This is the circular walk of the Whirling Dervishes with peshrev, greeting each other three times. It is the greeting of the secret soul to the soul.

E- Fifth Part: Sema ceremony consists of 4 greetings. The whirling dervish is symbolically born into the truth by taking off his black cardigan. By folding his arms, he represents the number one and testifies to the unity of Allah. He kisses Sheikh Efendi's hand and gets permission to enter the Sema. Starts Sema.

1. Greeting: It is the realization of the Almighty Creator's own servitude by being born into the truth through knowledge.

2. Salute: It is the admiration that man feels for the power of Allah, considering the order and greatness in creation.

3. Greeting: It is the sacrifice of the mind to Love, as the human feeling of admiration and gratitude turns into Love. This is complete surrender, unity with God, destruction of the beloved!

4. Greeting: It is the return of man to his duty and servitude in creation after completing his spiritual journey by accepting his fate. Sheikh Efendi and the whirling dervish leaders also participate in this greeting. At this point, the whirling dervish is in the joy of having believed in Allah, His angels, His books and His prophets, as stated in the Messenger of Amen (Quran 2. verse 285). He enjoys and understands the divine commands and the reasons for creation. Our Prophet, who defeated himself and his ego, said, "Die before you die," and in the last verse of Fajr 27 of the Holy Quran, "O secure and contented soul, you are pleased with Him, and he is pleased with you." " "Return to your Lord! Enter the community of My true servants! Enter my paradise with them!” He obeyed their orders and was filled with joy.

- After the Sema Recitation, Dedes and Dervishes retreat to their cells silently for contemplation (meditation) without talking to anyone.

F- Chapter Six: In the 6th part of the Sema ceremony, it is especially stated that "The east belongs to Allah, the west belongs to Allah. Whichever way you turn, the face of Allah is there. Because Allah is the Guardian, the Knower of everything." " Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 115, S. 2. Continues with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

G- Chapter Seven: In the 7th chapter, the Sema ceremony ends with the Fatiha recited for the souls of all Prophets, martyrs and all believers, and the prayer recited for the well-being of our state.
